ON THE FOOTHILLS OF MAINALO

More than a century had passed since grandfather Chronopoulos bought a piece of land in the foothills of Mainalo and turned it into a vineyard, when his grandson Chronopoulos created in the exact same place, Fteri of Mantineia, a winemaking masterpiece. Fteri Vinum Winery focuses on the quality of the production rather than quantity.

THE MANTINEIA TERROIR

At Fteri Vinum, we believe in the value of the Mantineia terroir and the power of Moschofilero. We also believe in evolution. Therefore, we decided to focus on the dynamic variety of Moschofilero, targeting the colour of the grape. For the first time, in the harvest of 2020, which was excellent in Mantineia, the focal point was the extraction in order to highlight the effect the dark skin of the fruit can have on a theoretically white wine. This is how LA NONNA was born, a rosé Moschofilero with milder tannins and softer in taste, that brings back loving memories.

THE MADMAN, THE WISEMAN AND THE LOVER

As Mantineia and Fteri benefit the production of some red grapes as well, we decided to cultivate Merlot but with a twist, combining it with Agiorgitiko, in a joint extraction. The result excites red wine lovers. Reactions to the classic, indigenous, lively Moschofilero that we produce, are just as enthusiastic. At Fteri Vinum Winery we believe that good wine needs a Madman to cultivate the wine, a Wiseman to watch over it, and a Lover to drink it.
